Recent Shows

The past few weeks I've gotten to see a couple of my favorite musical artists, Glen Phillips and Mike Doughty.

I'll start with Glen.
Glen was playing at the Avalon Theater in Easton, MD. He's never played there before and I as well have never been there. I grabbed a quick bite to eat and had some really good cream of crab soup and a Harps or two.
The theater seemed small, I would guess no more than a hundred people at the show. The seats were excellent. I was a bit worried just because the show was on a Sunday night. Not that the people of Easton don't know how to rock out but the audience was well behaved. Glen played a great set and my fav song - Easier. He also played some old Toad which is always nice to hear.

On to Mike Doughty.
Mike and his band played a great show at the 9:30 Club in DC this past Saturday. I've seen him several times solo and I was really looking forward to seeing him with a full band. The show started out with what I will call the "Afghan Mafia"...4 guys, all with long black stick-on beards...doing an improv noise/jam session. If you payed special attention, the truth be told - it was Mike and his band goofing off. good stuff. They sounded great, and Mike pulled out a few songs from the old band.
